  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan.
  2. Melt the butter on medium heat in a saucepan.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
  4. Mix in cocoa, flour, salt, and baking powder until well combined.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  6. Spread the batter evenly onto the pan.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Cool completely before cutting into squares.
P.S: For extra shiny crinkly top, beat the sugar + eggs for 3 mins before adding cocoa!
